Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ethics Advisor to join our team on a short-term contract basis starting on April 1st, 2024. As an Ethics Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the ethical and lawful handling of data processing, with a focus on data minimization and adherence to relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
Legal Consultation: Provide expertise on lawful bases for data processing, ensuring compliance with applicable data protection regulations and ethical standards.
Ethics Report Annual Update: Prepare and deliver an annual ethics report detailing the organization's adherence to ethical standards in data processing and AI development. This report should include an assessment of ethical risks and mitigation strategies, as well as recommendations for continuous improvement in ethical practices.
Data Minimization: Ensure data minimization practices, making certain that all included data variables are adequate, relevantand limited to what is necessary for the intended purposes of processing.
Lawful Basis for Data Processing: Establish and maintain a lawful basis for data processing, including but not limited to the reuse of personal data, and ensure ongoing compliance with legal requirements.
Ethics of AI: Offer guidance on ethical considerations related to artificial intelligence (AI), with a focus on implementing and maintaining ethical practices in the development and development of AI tools.
Mitigation Measures: Propose and implement mitigation measures to prevent the misuse of AI tools, emphasizing ethical use and addressing potential risks associated with the technology.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers and legal experts, to integrate ethical considerations seamlessly into the development and implementation of data processing systems.

Requirements:
Proven experience as an Ethics Advisor or similar role, with a strong background in data protection, privacy and AI ethics.
In-depth knowledge of relevant data protection regulations, such as DSGVO, and track record of ensuring compliance in complex environments.
Familiarity with ethical considerations in AI development and deployment, including mitigating potential biases and preventing misuse.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and provide practical, ethical solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Relevant certifications or advanced degrees in ethics, data protection or a related field.
