ACCESS workshops support digital solutions for urban logistics in Buenos Aires

Co-creation is at the heart of effective urban innovation. As part of the ACCESS project and with the support of the local implementing partner in Argentina, Asociación Sustentar, we brought together public authorities, including the technical team of the Buenos Aires City Government, logistics operators, technology providers, and academia in a series of validation workshops.
The workshops included two in-person sessions and one virtual session. They focused on refining digital solutions for more sustainable urban logistics in Buenos Aires as part of the ACCESS pilots.
Refining solutions through stakeholder participation
The discussions provided invaluable technical and operational insights, ensuring that the proposed pilots respond to real-world challenges while remaining technically and economically feasible.
The workshops confirmed strong support for digital tools that can improve the management of loading and unloading zones and optimize routing through better information.
Participants also helped identify key implementation considerations, from interoperability and infrastructure to cybersecurity and scalability. Their feedback was turned into concrete recommendations that will shape the next phase of the ACCESS pilot projects.
Two pilots for urban logistics in Buenos Aires
Two pilots are being implemented to optimize urban logistics in Buenos Aires.
The first is a fleet monitoring and dynamic routing tool. The second is a reservation and monitoring tool for loading and unloading zones, known as Cajones Azules.
Both pilots are part of the ACCESS activities in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area.
About the ACCESS project
ACCESS is a transport digitalisation project implemented across six Latin American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru.
The project supports the integration of digital technologies and policies into transport systems in ten cities, with the aim of providing more efficient and low-carbon mobility options. In Argentina, the project is being implemented in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area.
One of the project’s main actions is the implementation of innovative pilots that demonstrate the potential of digital solutions for urban mobility services. The experience generated through these pilots is intended to inform plans and policies and contribute to their expansion at city, country, and regional levels.
ACCESS also includes the development of local strategies, national frameworks, capacity-building initiatives, and opportunities for exchange across the region, supporting the wider adoption of digitalisation for low-carbon urban mobility.
