Accelerating clean mobility in Morocco: the BOOST and VOLTAMOTORS partnership

Officially, the BOOST project has come to an end. But on the ground, where change truly happens, its work continues. The partnerships, ideas and initiatives it helped build are still growing, led by the people who keep them alive.

Even though the project has officially wrapped up, the collaboration between UEMI and its local partners goes on. We believe it’s important to show where and how BOOST continues to make an impact,  to share the stories that remind us what lasting change looks like.

The partnership

One of these stories comes from Morocco, where the BOOST team and VOLTAMOTORS MAROC continue working together to make electric mobility part of everyday life. Their shared goal remains the same: turning global ambitions for clean transport into real actions that create jobs, build skills and strengthen communities.

VOLTAMOTORS MAROC is a young company designing electric motorcycles made for Moroccan riders. When the two teams first met, it didn’t take long to realise how much they had in common. Both believed that Morocco’s shift towards cleaner mobility should be led by those who know the country best.

“From the very beginning, we shared a common vision focused on promoting sustainable mobility, which naturally led to a strong and well-structured collaboration,” says Hala Degoun, Marketing and Communication Officer at VOLTAMOTORS MAROC.

Connecting people, knowledge and opportunities

For VOLTAMOTORS, sustainable mobility isn’t an abstract goal, it’s something tangible and practical. The company designs and assembles electric motorcycles that are reliable, comfortable and ready for Morocco’s busy streets.

Through BOOST, their work has reached further. The teams are now connecting local engineers, start-ups and institutions with international experts. These exchanges are opening doors to technical training, new business ideas and local employment, all key to building a self-sustaining e-mobility ecosystem.

“This partnership strengthens Morocco’s e-mobility ecosystem by linking actors across the value chain and creating spaces for innovation and growth,” Hala explains.

Each workshop and shared lesson adds new energy to a movement that’s already changing how people move and how they think about transport.

Innovation that begins with people

At VOLTAMOTORS, innovation isn’t just about technology. It starts with people, understanding their daily lives and finding ways to make clean mobility truly accessible. Every motorcycle is designed to be affordable, easy to maintain and adapted to local realities.

The challenges are still there: limited awareness, high upfront costs and a developing charging network. But that’s exactly where the collaboration with BOOST makes an impact. Together, they’re addressing these barriers through pilot projects, outreach and community partnerships that show electric mobility can work.

This collaboration also sends a larger message: Morocco’s clean-mobility future can be home-grown.

Collaboration in motion

Behind every prototype and milestone are people who believe in what they do and what began as a project has become a shared journey driven by optimism and mutual respect.

“Seeing both teams working together with the same energy and belief in sustainable change has been one of the most inspiring aspects of this journey,” says Hala.

That spirit of collaboration is what keeps the partnership moving. Real progress doesn’t come only from machines and data, it comes from the human connections that make them matter.
