Enhancing Capacities and Job-Opportunities in E-Mobility

Call for Proposals
Electric mobility is rapidly gaining momentum across Africa, offering a sustainable solution to urban transport challenges, economic opportunities through local manufacturing and service ecosystems, and the potential for significant job creation. The E-Mobility Job BOOSTer Programme is designed to students with skills in electric mobility to be able to contraibute to the transformation of the transport sector.
The Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI) collaborates with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in a joint programmme to boost e-mobility jobs in Afrca and invites proposals from accredited higher education institutions in Morocco or Rwanda to collaborate on a transformative programme aimed at enhancing job placements for students and strengthening capacity in e-mobility and the wider transport and energy eco-system. This initiative focuses on integrating relevant training material into university curricula and supporting thematic capacity-building activities.
Programme Overview
This programme is committed to fostering industry-ready graduates who can drive innovation in the rapidly evolving sectors of electric mobility, sustainable public transport, and road safety. In collaboration with selected partner universities, the programme will:
• Facilitate job and internship opportunities with leading e-mobility companies.
• Integrate specialized training materials into existing academic programmes.
• Incentivize students through targeted awards to support their transition from education to employment.

Purpose and Scope
​This call for proposals aims to:
• Strengthen University Curricula: Integrate training modules that address the technical and regulatory aspects of e-mobility, public transport, and road safety.
• Enhance Student Employability: Develop partnerships with industry stakeholders to create meaningful job placements and internships.
• Support Capacity-Building: Organize thematic activities that build expertise within the institution and prepare students for the demands of the emerging e-mobility sector.
Scope of Activities
Partner universities are expected to work closely with UEMI to implement the following activities:
1. Job & Internship Identification:
• Collaborate with UEMI to identify and secure job or internship opportunities in relevant e-mobility companies.
2. Thematic Capacity-Building:
• Develop and integrate training material related to e-mobility, public transport, and road safety into the existing curriculum.
• Organize workshops, seminars, or short courses to support capacity-building initiatives.
3. Student Incentives:
• Disburse Job Booster Awards to student to support and incentivize those participating in training and transitioning to employment.
• Target students enrolled in programmes related to renewable energies and electric mobility.
4. Stakeholder Engagement:
• Collaborate with local and international stakeholders to secure and sustain meaningful job placements and professional development opportunities.
Expected Outcomes
By participating in this initiative, partner institutions will:
• Enhance the employability of their students through industry-relevant training and job placements.
• Strengthen academic programmes by integrating cutting-edge material on e-mobility, public transport, and road safety.
• Build sustainable networks with local and international stakeholders, fostering continuous innovation and capacity-building.
• Provide a model for effective collaboration between academia and industry in addressing urban mobility challenges.


Application
Who Should Apply?
Accredited universities in Morocco or Rwanda, particularly those with faculties focused on science, technology, or renewable energies, are encouraged to submit proposals.
Proposals should include:
• Institutional Profile:
A brief overview of the university and its relevant academic programmes.
• Proposed Partnership Role:
A detailed explanation of how your institution plans to implement the activities outlined in this call.
• Implementation Plan:
Specific strategies for integrating new training material, identifying job placements, and organizing capacity-building activities.
• Resource Allocation:
Information on available resources (faculty, infrastructure, partnerships) that will support the programme.
• Monitoring & Evaluation:
Methods to track progress, measure outcomes, and ensure accountability in the use of funds.
