Student Internship Opportunities in Kigali – UEMI BOOST Project

Available 6-Month Opportunities (Starting November 2024)

1. Sustainable Transport Business Team
-
Collaborate with the City of Kigali to establish and run a sustainable transport business.
-
The business will utilize 20 shared bikes and 15 cargo bikes, creating new job opportunities in Kigali.
-
Work in a team of 4-5 students to develop and operate this business.

2. City of Kigali Internship
-
Be the on-site intern with the Special Projects Implementation Unit.
-
Assist the Urban Mobility Specialist and Transport Economist with tasks such as reviewing tender documents, masterplans, and other administrative tasks.

Gain valuable experience working with professionals on UEMI-related projects.
3. UEMI Women Initiative Role
-
Focus on UEMI’s Women Initiative based at the City of Kigali.
-
Support activities from a gender perspective, working with the women’s cooperative for the bike business, assisting women at Ampersand, and collaborating with women-focused CSOs in Kigali.

Be the primary point of contact for UEMI on women's initiatives.
Next Steps
We invite interested students to submit a draft business plan for an electric bike business in Kigali. The business plan should reflect on the business, policy, and gender aspects of electric mobility.
