UEMI_Solutions: Workshop/Trainings India and Vietnam The UEMI_SOLUTIONS Team presented urban mobility solutions to city officials and stakeholders in workshops in India and Vietnam. The focus of the training was on implementation action in South- and Southeast Asia contributing to the international exchange on transport innovation of the FUTURE RADAR project. The challenges for Kochi, Hanoi and Hai Phong were discussed at the workshops and practical steps to conceptualise, finance and implement low-carbon urban mobility solutions in the city to deliver on the New Urban Agenda and improve the quality of life in the cites.
Several measures have been identified that can be pursued as part of a joint pilot project, such as the electrification of the auto-rickshaw fleet in Kochi and the scoters and motorbikes in Hai Phong and Hanoi. This was complemented by ideas on solar-charging systems, opportunities for local businesses and transport operators and linkages to public transport systems. Further needs for city-to-city exchange for example on the Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (to be established in Kochi) and Bus Rapid Transit (currently under consideration in Hai Phong) were identified.
